Revisiting Tradition XI
A portrait of a beautiful Persian princess sitting with a bolster and eating a fruit. Such detailed portraits were common in this traditional style of South Asian miniature painting
Medium: Opaque water-based pigment, tea stain and faux gold leaf on Vasli (Archival paper)
Size: 10” x 12” (Plain white wooden frame with glass)
This is an original painting from a series I do, called “Revisiting Tradition”. This series is inspired by the centuries-old Turkish manuscript paintings. Executed in Sumaira Tazeen’s signature Mughal style rendering, these figurative subjects are my choice to speak for ordinary to regal.
