The following workshops are conducted at special venues like community centres, museums and in art galleries all around KW area and GTA.
Miniature Portrait Painting
Duration: 4 hours or 1 full day
Minimum 4 participant. If only one person is taking the workshop hourly rate will be charged.

A day-long workshop, that explores traditional South Asian Miniature portrait painting. Prior to the advent of printing and photography, prominent members of the 16th century royal courts had their portraits painted on various surfaces. This workshop will introduce participants to tools, mediums and surfaces used during this time. Participants will use a fine tip squirrel hair brush to apply washes of black and white ink on a specialized archival board called Vasli as they create their own traditional style portrait (Chehra Nami). Some experience drawing would be beneficial but is not required; All materials provided

Explore the human figure as it relates to traditional South Asian miniature painting. Prior to the advent of printing and photography, prominent members of the 16th century royal courts were painted on various surfaces. This workshop will introduce participants to tools, mediums and surfaces used during this time. Under the guidance of practicing artist, Sumaira Tazeen, participants will use a fine tip squirrel hair brush to apply washes of watercolour and opaque white pigment on to a specialized archival board called Vasli as they create their own figure painting (Naeem Rang).
